From December 23 to 26, the 30th CERNET Academic Annual Conference & Conference Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of CERNET Construction was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.

As China's first nationwide Internet, CERNET (China Education and Research Network) was founded in 1994. It is managed by the Ministry of Education and constructed and operated by Tsinghua University, Peking University and other institutions of higher education. At the session commemorating the 30th anniversary of CERNET construction held on December 24, our university was conferred the title of Outstanding Contribution Unit for the 30th Anniversary of CERNET Construction. Meanwhile, Comrade Xiao Peng from the Network Center received the Individual Contribution Award for the 30th Anniversary of CERNET Construction.

The campus network of Wuhan University of Technology, built in 1994, is among the first batch of university campus networks nationwide. After 30 years of continuous construction and development, it now covers all office, teaching, experimental, student dormitory and public areas on campus, serving as a critical information infrastructure for the university. Adopting a flattened network architecture supporting both IPv4 and IPv6, the campus network has nearly 60,000 wired access points, nearly 20,000 wireless APs, over 100,000 connected terminals, and serves nearly 70,000 users.In recent years in particular, the university has seized the strategic opportunities of educational digitalization, adhering to the principle of "Party-building Leadership, Data-driven Development, Collaborative Sharing, Quality Improvement and Efficiency Enhancement". The continuous upgrading of the campus network has made positive contributions to advancing reforms in the university's management system, education model, evaluation system and service support mechanism.The dual honors bestowed upon our university and Comrade Xiao Peng fully affirm the long-term efforts and achievements of our university in the construction, operation and application of CERNET, as well as in promoting educational informatization.
